Durango, Colorado is a wonderful place to visit.  I am sure it would be a lovely place to live too.  I could actually see myself living there.

It has so much to offer. There are so many fun things to do and see in and around the area.

Let me tell you of some great attractions, restaurants, adventure sports, rides and more. If you haven’t been here, I’d start thinking about putting this place on your list of places to visit.

Fun Things To Do In Durango, Colorado:

  • Wonderful restaurants and fun outside bars
  • Great galleries and nice shops galore
  • Trails everywhere to climb and places to raft
  • Epic scenic roads to ride for the motorcycle enthusiasts
  • Great places to go for a day trip
  • Popular Silverton Train

There are so many wonderful things to do locally.

Durango’s Main Street is lined with great restaurants and bars.  They offer many types of cuisines.

My favorites are Ken and Sue’s and East by Southwest.  Ken and Sue’s is a local favorite. They have a wonderful lunch and dinner menu, a lovely martini menu and wine list. The atmosphere is beautiful inside and out.  You can sit indoors in the romantic lightly lit dining room, or their outside area in the back and enjoy the lit trees and park like setting.

East by Southwest which is just off Main street serves sushi and a fusion of Japanese traditional flavor combined with contemporary cooking.  I like sitting at the bar.  It has a real eclectic look and attitude. A fun place.  Durango has over 100 restaurants. Most local and I feel most of them are fantastic.

As for the bars, those are even more plentiful.  Durango is a college town as well.  They have a few great brewing companies, lots of bars lining Main street as well as throughout town.  3 of my favorites are: The Irish Embassy Pub, The Diamond Belle Saloon in the historic Strater hotel and The Balcony Bar & Grill.  All are great places and have live music most nights.

Durango’s Main Street is also lined with several jewelry and art galleries, nice shops and souvenir stores. I like to stroll up and down Main Street each time I go and look for a new and interesting piece of jewelry or art.  If you time it right you can make an Art Fair or Festival.

For the the sports minded, there are trails everywhere, places to raft the Animas River and rocks and mountains to climb.
